Layout and InDesign

We are coming to the end of  our " A World to Win" project and as part of the legacy of the project we wanted the group to have the skills, contacts and resources to carry on making their own posters and zines.

To enable this we planned two final workshops, one to look at general design principles to help the group design eye catching print and secondly an introduction to InDesign session so they could turn there ideas into a printable file.

For the design session we headed over to see our friends at print collective Dizzy Ink who run a print studio in Nottingham. This space is available for individuals and group to use so a perfect venue to help the group continue in their print and design work.

Craig from Dizzy introduced us to some basic design principles such as alignment, balance and white space and showed us lots of examples of great design.

We then had the chance to put this into practice by designing our own Illuminate posters. We went old school and used grids on acetate paper to check our balance and alignment and then used paper and scissors to put together our designs.

Here are our final pieces which we will turn into INDESIGN files next week.
