ILLUMINATE
Illuminate, Nottingham Museums Young Arts Collective is a group of 16- 25 year olds who meet at the Brewhouse Yard Museum every Wednesdays from 4.00-5.30
In partnership with Nottingham Museums, we work with Museum staff and artists to devise and take part in creative projects, create exhibitions and share ideas around how Nottingham Museums can be made more interesting and accessible.
We are now working on an exhibition of Nottingham’s collection of Chinese Textiles which will run alongside the Castle’s major exhibition of Chinese Silks, titled “Living in Silk”, a part of the wider “Stories of the World” Cultural Olympiad in 2012.
The project will involve the group planning, deciding and creating or commissioning all parts of the exhibition, including research and interpretation, exhibition design, public programme, events, marketing and publicity. We'll work alongside professionals to learn various skills and approaches through mentoring, visits, workshops and talks.
Our exhibition will open on the 29th March 2012.
This blog intends to share, communicate and inspire both those working within Illuminate, and those who are interested in the exhibition and the wider ideas it generates.
